This project is my first attempt in Unreal Engine 4 environment art. It was also the occasion to learn Substance Designer and to try different techniques and processes.
Almost all the assets are made from scratch using:
- 3Dsmax for modelling
- Zbrush for sculpting
- Substance Designer / Painter for texturing
For the vegetation I used the Nature Package provided by SilverTM on the Unreal Marketplace.
The sky box is the standard UE4 asset and I also used a few grass and leaves textures from photo reference.

For this project I learned a lot from online content, so I wanted to share the most important ones:
- Gnomon Workshop "Building a Stylized Environment" by Martin Teichmann, a very good tutorial that covers the whole process of creating an environment in UE4.
- Gnomon Workshop "Substance Designer" by Rogelio Olguin, which completes the free content on substance channel.
- "Polygon Academy" youtube channel. Lots of awesome content for learning, you really have to check it out !
